Are you having dinner tonight? More than 70,000 people, men, women and children in Chester County will not have enough food to bring to their tables today. The Chester County Food Bank feeds families in need throughout the county. Last year, the Food Bank distributed over 2.1 million pounds of food (that’s equivalent to 1.7 million meals!) to the more than 90 food cupboards and meal sites throughout our area. We have grown tremendously in the four years since our inception, as the need for food for Chester County residents increases at a staggering rate.
We are not a typical food bank... we believe everyone deserves fresh, nutritious food. The Food Bank focuses on providing the freshest food possible. We have also partnered with schools to provide a “hands-on” Nutrition Education Program, which focuses on teaching children how to make healthy choices and families how to incorporate healthy foods into their daily lives. All of our programs are driven by the goal of improving the health and welfare of the most vulnerable children and families in Chester County.
We need your help. The Food Bank relies on the generosity of the community to continue to distribute food, to partner with farms and growers, to provide healthy eating programs for schools and to support our many other programs all at no charge. Donations — large and small — are a critical part of our ability to achieve this mission. As the holidays approach, the need for food is even more evident.
Make a monetary donation. This is always the primary need. Your gift will help us expand our programs to help families in ways previously not possible.
Host a food drive. Food drives are always needed. Get your neighbors together and have a friendly competition. Think you can collect 1000 pounds of food? Challenge yourself, your neighbors and your community!
BOGO Buy one, give one. During your grocery shopping, buy one for you and an extra to give to the Food Bank. Stock up sales are a great time to restock your pantry and a family in need too.
Donate a turkey. We need lots of turkeys and all the sides for the holiday season.
Be a charitable host. When hosting a holiday gathering and people ask what to bring suggest a donation to the Food Bank. Collect food or funds at your party and help our community.
We’re in YOUR community. The Chester County Food Bank recently moved into the Eagleview community at 650 Pennsylvania Drive in Exton. We accept food donations Monday — Friday 8am to 4:30pm and (most) Tuesdays until 7pm. We will be accepting food donations at our warehouse on Saturday, November 23 from 8am to noon. Please consider lending your time and talent through one of our many volunteer opportunities. Check out ChesterCountyFoodBank.org for more information.
