Chester County Food Bank: Difficult Winter

ChesterCountyFoodBank.jpg

This winter many Chester County residents are being hit with a double-whammy. Unusually low temperatures causing high electric bills are forcing struggling families to choose whether to heat their home or buy groceries. Combine this with the recent food stamp cuts and it is no wonder why families are struggling. As a result, Chester County Food Bank is seeing an increase in the number of families needing assistance. We need your help!

The Food Bank relies on the generosity of the community to continue to distribute food, partner with farms and growers, and provide healthy eating programs for schools and support many other programs for no charge at all. Donations — large or small are critical to achieve this mission.

HOW TO HELP

BOGO sales: Give your free item to the Food Bank.

Host a food drive: Can you, your friends, or neighbors collect 1,000 pounds of food? Take the challenge.

Make a monetary donation: Always important to help purchase wholesale food, buy materials for the nutrition education program, keep the warehouse refrigerators on, and much more!

Most needed items: canned meats — tuna & chicken, peanut butter, healthy cereal, canned fruit juices. Also needed: rice, pasta, soups, canned vegetables and oatmeal.

Last year, we delivered over 2.1 million pounds of food to 90 food cupboards and meal sites in Chester County; that is 1.7 million meals! But the need for food assistance is increasing at a staggering rate, please consider a donation today.

Drop your donations off Monday - Friday between 8am-4pm at 650 Pennsylvania Drive in Eagleview Corporate Center.
