On Friday, July 18th and Saturday, July 19th, the Downingtown East Theatre will be performing a 60's era take on the Shakespearean classic, A Midsummer Night's Dream! The performances both start at 6:30pm and will be held on the Town Center concert stage. We encourage the audience to bring lawn chairs or blankets for comfortable viewing. In one of Shakespeare's most beloved and performed works, A Midsummer Night's Dream follows four young lovers as they spend a hilarious night chasing, pursuing, and frolicking through the woods, all the while being manipulated by the magical fairies who surround them.
Set in the 1960s, this production uses the era's music, style, and spirit to uniquely accent the comedy's themes of classism and counter-culture, as well as enhance the story and humor. The play is sure to provide an unforgettable night of laughter and fun appropriate for the whole family.
