Did you know? Every 67 seconds someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s disease. More than 5 million Americans are living with the disease. Some estimates project that by 2050, the number of adults age 65 and older with Alzheimer’s may nearly triple.
Experts believe that the majority of Alzheimer’s cases develop due to a combination of factors, such as age, genes, environment, lifestyle and co-existing medical conditions. Regular physical exercise may help lower the risk of Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia. Strong social connections and staying mentally active may also lower risk. Promising research is underway.
